Local Governing Body (LGB)

At Rushmere Hall Primary School, we are fortunate to have a dedicated Local Governing Body (LGB) working alongside the school leadership team. Our LGB is a group of volunteers from the local community and Senior Leaders from Eko Trust who are passionate about education and committed to ensuring the best possible outcomes for all our pupils. This page introduces you to the members of the LGB, their roles, and outlines how you can contact them.

To read our Statutory Governance Information, please see the Eko Trust Governance page.

The terms of reference set out the committee structures within the Governing body.

Pecuniary Interests and Governance Information

The document below indicates any percuniary interest of the School Governors and any other relevant information.

Eko Trust LGB Member – Chair
Mrs Bryan

I have been a Governor at Rushmere Hall now for over five years. I
have been the Safeguarding Governor for the last four years and Vice
Chair for the last two years. I work in Ipswich as a communications manager, and I have two children at Rushmere Hall, and one at a local high school. I also help with the admin for the junior section of a hockey club. I am passionate about Rushmere Hall and the great education it offers. I have learnt so much as a Governor and it has been great to see how far the school has come. I enjoy helping to develop and improve Rushmere Hall for all our pupils.

Eko Trust LGB Member – Vice Chair
Mrs Matthews

I am a working mother of three children. My son started at pre-school last year and is now in reception. I have been really impressed by the school and have been keen to be involved with making it even better. I would support the schools leadership, but wouldn’t be afraid to question and challenge when required. I’m passionate that a child’s mental wellbeing should be the centre of everything; poor mental health will only restrict a child’s education and development. I have a
Psychology degree and I am a wellbeing champion (voluntary role) within my workplace.

Mr Rogers

I joined the Rushmere Hall Governing Body for the following reasons:

  • As a secondary Science teacher, I would like to learn more about curriculum and assessment in the Primary phase.
  • I currently work for a Multi Academy Trust and as such, we have no governing body. For my own professional development, I would like to experience how a Governing Body is run and how it supports the school.
  • My daughter is a student at Rushmere and so I have an interest in the quality of teaching and learning and outcomes at Rushmere Hall and I would like to bring my experience to support the continuing improvement of these.

Skills I bring to the Governing Body:

  • Excellent Science subject knowledge (MSc/PhD) which I would be happy to share!
  • Excellent practical science skills and knowledge of health and safety
  • Knowledge of KS3-5 Science curriculum
  • Experience in leading and monitoring teaching and learning, informed by current educational research
  • Familiar with different types of assessment and confident interpreting educational data
  • Good relationships with children and colleagues!

Mr Liljendahl

I joined Rushmere Hall as a Governor, as I have a strong desire to give something positive back to the community I live in. As a parent of soon to be two children at the school, and a professional background which I believe has given me skills and experience to support the school effectively, this feels for me a good fit, and the right time in my life to take on such a role.

In my personal life, I am a father of two young boys, and we are keen as a family to get behind and support Rushmere Hall in any way that we can. My wife works in the Health and Wellbeing industry, making us big advocates of the importance of a mental health agenda, and ensuring the school provides a genuinely caring environment for all the children who attend.

In my professional life, I’m an experienced Finance Director, and Board member, with over 15 years of Finance experience working across multiple businesses. My role is to ensure money is controlled, spent, and invested wisely for the greater good of the organisation. Also, as a board member, I have developed skills in strategically guiding the organisations I work for, whilst at the same time creating the space for staff members to do their jobs effectively day to day. I believe these professional experiences and skills, combined with my passion for the school to do well as a parent and local community member, would create a strong combination for me to support Rushmere as a Governor. I also have a science degree, and would be happy to support the school, with my knowledge in this area!

Finally, I believe I have a real strength in collaboration, respecting and understanding the views of others, and the benefits that such an approach brings to create a balanced outcome. As such, I hope that I would bring to the board of Governors, an engaging, positive, collaborative, and respectful approach, working as part of a team, to support the school in achieving its objectives.

Mr Saunders

For the past 12 months I have been a governor at another primary school within the Eko Trust and I am looking forward to supporting Rushmere within Eko next. I have been a primary school teacher for the past 11 years. During this time I have been a class teacher, a leader of teaching and learning across a Trust, and a Head of School. Now I am Deputy Headteacher of Gainsborough Primary School in Eko – a one form entry school in Newham, London where I am responsible for the curriculum and learning. I look forward to sharing my experience and supporting the Rushmere Hall school community.
